August 16, 2008: Ka Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon won the Olympic Gold Medal for Women's Weightlifting in the 53kg class. Ka Prapawadee set Olympic record with 126kg in clean & jerk Prapawadee also holds the World Record in the clean & jerk with a 130kg lift set at the Thailand National Championships held in May 2008. Prapawadee is a former Word Junior Chanpion who won the gold medal at the 2006 & 2007 World Championships (2007 World Championships were held in Chiang Mai) & the 2007 Asian Championships. |
