Our position is that any person young or old / jock or non-jock is entitled be be treated by the medical practitioner of their choice & be able to receive all approved medical modalities prescribed by the chosen practitioner.
21st century medicine should be part of 21st century sports. 21st century athletes should be allowed to have access to the same medical technology as a non-jocks.
rhGH is US FDA approved to treat medical conditions associated with adult onset (35 year old) low endogenous GH production. 2007 US FDA rhGH report to the US Congress. A highlighted rhGH Report here:
hGH & Insulin are both recombinate hormones commonly prescribed to treat specific recognized medical conditions. Baseball allows Insulin but not rhGH or Testosterone.
Doctors should be able to treat their patients with all protocols that fall within their license.
Endocrinology, Orthopedic, Ophthalmology .. Infection .. Chiropractic .. no matter, doctors should be allowed to treat the documented conditions of their medical patients in the manner that they deem best.
Medical conditions are determined by objective findings (radiology & appropriate labs) + medical examination.
21st century reconstructive joint surgery to repair activity related joint trauma to extend a 'post prime' athlete's career is in what way different from hormone replacement, rhGh & Testosterone, to extend that same players career?
If the Babe drank watered down Lite Beer he would have had far fewer performance degrading hangovers .. which, in the Babe's case, would make Lite Beer a performance enhancer.
"If I'd know I was going to live this long I'd taken better care of my self" ~ Mickey Mantle (1931-1995)
To not allow all athletes to have access to all the advances of modern medicine is medical discrimination ..
To limit "selective age associated medical modalities" for jocks but not other modalities is definitely Medical Discrimination
Recognized objective medical tests, be it radiology or lab, should be what facilitates a doctors medical plan for that athlete not talk radio.
rHGH is US FDA approved to TREAT & CURE the symptoms of ADULT ONSET low endogenous hGH production .. not as an AntiAging protocol.
Talk radio call-ins & (& especially!) the dopey non-athlete sports broadcasters (experts on sport that never played sport; DOH!) are seemingly all but in unison demanding that today's athletes should enjoy only selective advances in medical technology. Medical advances available to the callers & talking heads .. but denied for jocks. ??
Politically Correct medical discrimination pure & simple
