Sairee Beach is one of the few places on the planet that you can go from an A/C guest room to a coral reef in 100 meters!
The Scuba day trips use long tails to get over over the Sairee Beach reef to the fully equipped scuba launch that then transports the group to world class scuba locations.
The long tails docked on Sairee Beach are available for hourly or daily rental.. 600 Thb for a few hours or 1000 Thb for a full day.
Mae Haad contains the hipper backer packer disco scene w/ all night 'parties' .. & Sairee Beach is heaven on earth.
If you are on a Full Moon Party venture Hae Haad is a good fit! .. Sairee Beach is quite w/ nice a nice beach lined with moored long tail boats

How to get to Koh Tao
Buses leave Bangkok Khao Son Road every evening that get you to the Pak Nam Pier in time for the morning Chumphon Pak Nam Express Boat to Koh Tao's Mae Haad Pier.

On the Express Ferry sit on the upper bow deck, in front of / under the captains wheel house.
Pack a cooler with preferred beverages & snacks for bus / boat trip ..
Trains leave Hua Lumphong for Chumphon on a regular daily schedule.
Both Pak Nam & Lomprayah are a long way from the Chumphon train station. (the all night Khao Son Road Bus is much more convenient, takes you right to the dock).
The SeaTran Catamaran is 100 Thb more & leaves from Lomprayah Pier .. 30 minutes south from Pak Nam .. further from Chumphon.
The Catamaran is smooth .. those with 'sea sickness' will consider the 100 Thb well spent.

The Pak Nam pier offers close up views of the Chumphon fishing fleet coming into & out of the river.
3 Km south of Pak Nam Pier is the wonderful Siritip Hotel. Give them a call & they will pick you up at Pak Nam Pier & / or take you back to Pak Nam Pier. 800Thb water front room .. Gulf of Thailand view out the 'glass walled room' .. from your king size bed
